To round up the other winners of the world`s best airlines with their respective awards: Air Asia won as The Best Economical Airline; Japan`s ANA bagged the prize having the cleanest cabins; The Best Economy Class was awarded to Garuda Indonesia; Air New Zealand took The Best Premium Economy; Malaysia Airlines` Satay Service was adjudged for having the Best Signature Dish; The Best Business Class was captured by Qatar Airways while Etihad Airways settled for Best First Class.
After a very comfortable 6 hour sleep (I actually slept for a solid six hours) the cabin lights were dimmed up at 0630 am accompanied by a hot face cloth and orange juice service to gently wake the passengers from their slumber. We were now 90 minutes ahead of our arrival at Toronto. Fifteen minutes later a cold breakfast plate was served consisting of cold meats and a generous mixture of fresh fruits (including grapefruit mango orange and watermelon) complemented by bread preservatives cereals yogurts and other drinks served from the cart. I thought this was the extent of the breakfast but to my pleasant surprise a hot tomato and ham omllette plate with sausage and potatoes followed which was very nice.
Trust me when I say that the airlines really do sympathize with all those folks back there in coach manning the galley oars and pulling like hopped-up little monkeys. After all I was a "non rev" (airline employee flying on a free or very cheap "space available" basis) and I learned how to pack a bag to make sure it doesn`t`t have to be checked at the last minute while boarding the plane for example. I know how rough and spartan it can be back there.
