If you utilize the same category of aircraft for your flights at least 80 percent of the time private ownership can also make economic sense. However if your mission changes regularly traveling long range on some flights short to mid-range on others sometimes with just one or two colleagues other flights with a whole team then looking to purchase a private airplane would not make much sense no matter how sweet the deal because one category of aircraft would not serve the majority of travel needs. Charter could be better for this scenario because you can always select the right aircraft for each flight. Some fractional ownership programs and jet cards allow customers to select among three or four aircraft categories (light mid-size super-midsize and large cabin/long range jets) and use more than one aircraft simultaneously providing another option for fliers who need access to several categories of aircraft.
Private aircraft charter companies don`t always own the planes they run. Many belong to rich private owners or big businesses who lend them to the charter companies to keep up maintenance. Generally like car rental companies private jet charter companies are legally bound to keep their aircraft well maintained. You can chose to ask for the latest inspection report or anything similar for assurance and see that the last maintenance of the particular aircraft on offer is not too long ago. Same applies for the pilots. You should never compromise on these for lower aircraft charter rates.
Three flight attendants were allocated to the 25 passengers in the Business-Class cabin with two working the cabin and one working the galley preparing meals and drinks. Prior to take-off the menus were distributed with passengers having a main course choice of Grilled Chicken Breast served over linguini with pesto Over-baked Crabmeat and Corn Boat offered on rice pilaf or Tortellini filled with mushroom accented by Bechamel and Tomato Basil Sauces. The fasten seat belt sign was turned off about fifteen minutes after our 945PM on-time departure from Santiago and Gloria the In-Charge Flight Attendant walked through the Business-Class cabin and personally introduced herself to each and every passenger welcoming everyone aboard the flight. This was a very nice touch and very impressive. As the flight was full Gloria worked with her colleagues in the coach cabin for the duration of the flight.
At 1130 PM (almost two hours after take-off) the meal trays were collected and a wine (port) gourmet cheese fruit and cracker service commenced followed by desert and tea. I opted for the Cherimoya Mousse in a Chocolate Cup which was delightful. Very decadent and was enjoyed by all the surrounding passengers! There were extras of the Chocolate Cup available and passengers were offered a second helping. We politely declined. Desert and tea service continued until midnight and cabin lights were dimmed at 1210 AM for several hours of sleeping.
