Approximately one hour after take-of blue table clothes were distributed in anticipation of dinner. White table clothes would have been nicer... classier. Fifteen minutes later a cold starter plate was served consisting of Prosciutto Ham and marinated Heart of Palm which was very nice. The fresh ground pepper was a nice touch! About 20 minutes after the cold plate service the main course was served. I chose the Over-baked Crabmeat and Corn Boat which was available and it was served hot on fine china and was very delicious! A dinner drink service was offered to accompany the meal and I had a nice glass of red wine. The meal portions were sufficient and the food taste and presentation was to a high standard.
Singapore Airlines has quietly upped its game to create a "super-first class" for well-to-do travellers. Its line of Airbus A380 double-decker planes now boast fully enclosed private suites designed by Jean-Jacques Coste who is better known for his range of luxury yachts. There are 12 of these private suites per plane each with a leather seat and separate full-size bed complete with Givenchy-designed duvets and cushions. The two middle suites can be transformed into double accommodation for couples.
Not everyone needs to personalise their private jet to indulge their taste for luxury. Some people are quite content to merely fly first-class provided their every whim is catered to and their every comfort is assured. Airlines such as Etihad have cottoned on to the needs of the super rich and have taken first-class flying to stratospheric levels. Even Etihad`s economy class is designed to make travellers feel more like valued customers and less like cattle bound for slaughter.
